The Story of #5 + Simply The Best Saturday

It’s late.

I turn into my driveway to find nearly all of the lights are already turned off, he must have gone to bed already.

I’m a little disappointed, I love our little post-rehearsal debriefs. It’s always something I look forward to whenever we have been apart.

That’s #1. I miss him when he’s not around.

I fumble in the darkness, looking for my keys. The front porch light is on the fritz, I’m worried it could induce epileptic shocks it blinks so violently, so it is turned off.I reach for the screen door handle trying to guide my hand to the keyhole. My hand catches on a small torch he has left for me, so that I can get into the house with ease.

#2 – He thinks of the little things, he cares.

My phone went flat while I was out, I plug it in to charge and I receive a text message, he’s left a cup of tea in the microwave for me, he knows I like to relax a little and unwind before I try to get to sleep.

He knows me is the #3 reason.

Climbing the stairs I am feeling the exhaustion attack my body. As I shower away the nights dance routines I think about all of the things I have to do before go to sleep. Writing a blog post being the most pressing need. Later I open my computer to find he has emailed me some photos: “Pics of the kids in case it’s helpful for your post.”

#4 – If I think it is important he will do whatever he can to help me achieve my goals.

I finished writing what I needed to write, I closed my computer and finally let my head hit the pillow. His hand was there, right where it always is, for me to hold. It is my favourite way to fall asleep, and even if it disrupts his comfort he does it anyway. He loves me.

He is my comfort and my constant is my #5.

Everyday I am blessed to have him. Everyday my life in enriched because of him. Everyday I love him.
