The Early Bird Gets the Worm: Review + Giveaway

by The Surprise Beginning on October 12, 2012

The early bird gets the worm, so they say.
But what if your baby is the early bird? What if your baby comes early?
Often early birds aren’t able to wear conventionally sized baby clothing. If you are the parent of a preemie you will know how difficult it can be to find good quality baby clothing in premature sizes.
That’s where Early Birds clothing (the brain child of Lynda Day, Melbourne mum and business woman), beautiful clothing for premature and small babies, steps in. Early Birds clothing has been made especially for babies from 800g – 4.5kg. The range is designed to make life easy in special care baby units, when changing might be more difficult.
Recently we were lucky enough to be able to sample some of the Early Birds Bigger Birds range. The Bigger Birds range caters to the typically narrower hips and slimmer legs of the growing preemie.
Neither of my children were born early, but they are both long, skinny kiddies. The perfect shape for the Bigger Birds range.
The clothing is made from comfortable rib knit fabric, so it has a nice amount of stretch whilst still washing very well. This clothing is definitely washing machine friendly.
Veronica tested the long-sleeved bodysuit, perfect for sleeping through the Summer nights. The layette design is easy to put one, it’s even daddy-friendly (after a few wears he was a pro), and it looks really cute on.
The art that features on the Bigger Birds range is the work of Matthew Langille, whose iconic graphics have been used by a number of companies including Marc by Marc Jacobs, Haviana and Swatch – and that’s a little bit fancy.
Peter loves the birds that adorn his underpants, he calls them his “Birdy Pants”. He loves them – even more than his Spiderman jocks – and that is high praise, let me tell you.
Our clothing arrived in a beautiful keepsake box – the perfect way to deliver a gift to a friend who is adjusting to life with an early bird.

The wonderful people over at Early Birds have kindly offered a $50 voucher for one lucky The Surprise Beginning reader. So you can choose whatever you like from the wonderful range.

My little one was a little early, but her growing had slowed in the womb quite early as well. She was too small for most size 00000 things until she was about three weeks old. She’s still a skinny little moppet today. This sounds fabulous – I’m heading to the site to have a look!

My first two babies arrived on time and my baby boy decided he didn’t want to get out and arrived at 10 days over by which time I’d truly had enough of pregnancy as I had severe SPD.
