There was a young woman,
Who loved to sleep.
When she was overtired,
You would likely hear her weep.
The snooze button was pressed,
Too many a time,
Oh her poor husband,
How did he get by?
“It’s time to get up now”,
He would often say.
“The kids need some breakfast,
They’re fading away.”
She pulled up the covers,
And buried her head.
“Just 5 more minutes?”
She pleaded instead.
He came in the room,
And ripped off the sheets.
“I’ll make you a coffee . . .”
He dangled a treat.
She looked at the clock,
A quarter to nine.
“Grmmbgshs” she muttered,
{The translation is “Fine!”}
You may have guessed,
The woman is Me.
Can I give up the sleep-ins?
I guess we’ll soon see.
This poem is dedicated to my sleep-ins, sadly I think {for the sake of my husbands sanity} that I must try to say goodbye to them . . . maybe I’ll start next week?
Do you like to sleep in too?

I was never big on sleeping in pre-kids but I liked to wake naturally when my body was ready. That doesn’t happen now, the kids always seem to want to get up earlier than I would! This poem is great!!

Thanks Kate – I got up at 7.30 today, that is early for me!
My hubby is very lucky because I’m an early riser – and he loves sleeping in. Every weekend I have no problems at all jumping out of bed a playing with Pebble for a couple of hours while he snoozes. I DO get frustrated on work days when he ALWAYS runs late because he’s stayed in bed too long. I’m on Liam’s side for this one!

Hahaha, yes, I feel a little guilty! I never mean to run late . . . it just happens!
I find the worst sound in the world to be the alarm. It’s the being awoken so abruptly I detest. It’s not natural. When I can wake up in my own good time, it’s like a mini-vacation.
Yes, alarm clocks are awful! My husband had a line from Anchor Man as an alarm last year and I used to have dreams based around that line, it was ridiculous!
Oh yes, love myself a good sleep in! Saturday is the only day that we get to do that, love waking up naturally and not to an alarm clock!

Yes, I remember always waling early on my own, I really wish I could do that again and actually feel alive!
Nk such thing as a sleep in for me, that’s what hubby does and I have to get uo for DS, so i now just wake even earlier in hopes of maybe getting a coffee in peace before I take on a new day of toddler taming
Oh Wendy that sounds like my husbands problem. He gets up super early just so that he can make his coffee and have a read before the kids are up!
